One day trip from Oporto to Braga and Guimaràes. Braga is one of the oldest cities of Portugal, seat of the Roman legal government, and ecclesiastical metropolis. Even today it is known by the Portuguese as the archbishops’ city. Visit to the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, a fantastic place that combines the works of Nature and Man. The Sanctuary of Bom Jesus do Monte is located on the top of Mount Espinho and surrounded by beautiful forest. This is followed by a visit to the Cathedral of Braga, according to tradition; the diocese was founded in Braga in the third century, although history confirms that it was from the year 400. The present building implements with another religious building that possibly was the former Cathedral. The visit to Braga ends with a stroll through the gardens of Santa Barbara and a visit to Republic Square. The journey continues to Guimaraes, declared heritage Site by UNESCO and regarded as the cradle of the nation. Visit the Castle Guimaràess, one of the best known monuments in Portugal, which carries the symbolism given to it in the 40s, as the foundation of nationality and birth place of D. Afonso Henriques first king of Portugal. To end this tour will visit the region Vinos Verdes in Minho, the largest Portuguese winemaking area. Journey back to Oporto.
